Sweet Friend,
Whenever mercury is in REtrograde, we might need a friendly reminder to RE-up that personal power. The two RE words coming up right now are REmember and REsource. The mantra “All I need is inside of me” has repeatedly played in my mind. Our human being has so much untapped intelligence. The big question for me right now is how I can recognize these subtle superpowers more often to engage in life and relationships actively and do the work with alignment and joy.
This last week, I have thought a lot about my Circle of Control. Probably because I have felt less control over big things in my life. The practice is simply asking, in any situation, what is in my power and doing that thing.
As I navigated through difficult conversations, scheduling challenges, decision-making, planning, and adjustments while also spending time with friends and taking care of myself, I realized that by focusing on what I could control, the tough situations became more manageable and everything else I was doing had an increase of freedom, joy, and alignment.
At this time of the lunar cycle, checking your alignment is beneficial. Asking these questions: Are you navigating from a place that only you can control? Where can you let go of control because it’s someone else’s work to do?
Check-in with your body and take note of the shape you are in as you move through your day. The shape your body takes can and will affect how you feel inside and how you interact with the world. Finding alignment and ease in your body is a part of your circle of control. It’s also a free and very potent way to eventually achieve clarity and comfort in your mind and body.
What does your circle of control look like? How do you differentiate what is yours and what isn’t? Can you check in with the abundant resources within your mind, heart, and intuition? Where could you use more alignment?
Here’s a sweet video River helped me make this morning to show how easy it is to take our head out of the present moment and get stuck in technology and away from our truth and the present moment. Notice how much more engaged she was after setting the electronics down and focusing on her body, even though she was acting this out at first, I can tell she loved feeling the changes in her being.
Here’s a quick journalling prompt if you are feeling overwhelmed or over-involved and would like to get clarity about which part is yours:
Draw a circle on a piece of paper.
Fill the inside of the circle by writing down the things in your life and body that only you can control.
On the outside of the circle, write how doing these things might or might now affect the world around you.
Fill in any blanks on the paper with adjectives that describe how amazing you are.
Please don’t write about what you can’t control… because, well… it doesn’t matter.
Have fun with this practice and be gentle and generous to your sweet self.
I love connecting with you. When we share our stories and insights we all grow and learn. Please feel free to hit reply and share with me how you are staying in alignment, or where you need more help with that. I will always be here for you.
I hope that In the coming week, you stay resourced and remember how beautiful and amazing you are and what you can control. I look forward to checking in with you on the full moon.
